Another bubble is the one created by the cytokine, transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), which surrounds and protects tumors. TGF-β is a pleiotropic cytokine, meaning that it has multiple effects that tumors use to their benefit. The effects include immune suppression, angiogenesis, scar tissue formation and epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT).
TGF-β bubble meet AdAPT-001 needle.
AdAPT-001 carries a TGF-β trap, which binds to and neutralizes TGF-β. In clinical trial patient after clinical trial patient that has received AdAPT-001 +/- a checkpoint inhibitor, we have seen pretty dramatic evidence of tumor regression in the absence of any dose-limiting toxicities or related serious adverse events.
All of which is music to our ears.
What kind of music?
