Is your life under threat?
Is your back against the wall?
Are you out of options and time?
To whom—or what—to turn to for help?
Whom to “McCall”?
Well, if you are the target of murderous mafiosos like the two below from Equalizer 3, then vigilante and one-man army Robert McCall (Denzel Washington), an ex-government assassin that expiates past sins through the defense of the innocent, is your man.
The retributive justice that he metes out is swift, severe, and karmically satisfying. Robert McCall is a mild-mannered, obsessively neat, and Clark Kentish Uber driver by day, and a capeless superhero by night that takes out lowlife criminals as easily and dispassionately as he takes out the trash. At a run time of 1 hour 49 minutes, the plot of Equalizer 3 or “Threequalizer” is certain to move—quite literally—at a breakneck pace with all the choking, bone-snapping, dislocating, eye-gouging, neck breaking, garrote-wielding, and point-blank shooting that any payback-loving red-blooded male could want.
However, if you are under threat from relentlessly progressive diseases like cancer, Parkinson’s, or ALS/MND, then salvation from these implacable enemies lies, not with a man, like Robert McCall, but possibly with therapeutic agents that act as “equalizers” to level the playing field.
Two such potential “equalizers” are EpicentRx’s AdAPT-001 and nibrozetone (RRx-001).
AdAPT-001 is an oncolytic adenovirus that expresses a TGF-β trap. This trap eliminates the protein TGF-β that tumors make abundant use of to escape from the immune system. Having successfully completed a Phase 1 trial, AdAPT-001 is in start-up for a Phase 2 trial in colorectal cancer where it will be given systemically.
Nibrozetone (RRx-001) is a shape-shifting small molecule with multi-indication potential. It is currently in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and it is about to start a Phase 2 trial in head and neck cancer for protection against severe oral mucositis, a common and debilitating side effect that occurs during treatment. Nibrozetone (RRx-001) is also under investigation as an anti-inflammatory agent in Parkinson’s Disease, ALS/MND, and endometriosis.
So, Denzel Washington has stated that he has no plans to star in an Equalizer 4.
“It’s a good place to stop,” he says.
But, for potential therapeutic equalizers like nibrozetone (RRx-001) and AdAPT-001 the work is never done.
